Sleepover at Maritime Museum Melaka Malaysia Incentive Tour

Having a sleep over at the Maritime Museum Melaka is a treat of a lifetime! It’s fun, a little scary but mostly inspiring. Sleeping over gives me an opportunity to see and feel the museum from a different perspective. I am sure no animals and exhibits on display will come to life and cause a wreak havoc as in the adventure-comedy 2006 movie “Night at the Museum” – I think! I hope! I am 100% sure!!!

Tips for the Sleepover
Ø  Pack light with your best pajamas, sweater, toiletries, torchlight and camera.
Ø  Dress comfortably and wear sneakers for the Night River Cruise and Heritage Walk conducted by a registered tour guide.
Ø  Do not bring any food in the Museum as you will be having your supper outside the Museum.
Ø  Before lights out, you will be assigned a sleeping area complete with a mattress, pillow and blanket.
Ø  Ensure you know the location of the toilet – just in case!
Ø  Don’t worry security guards are posted at every gallery entrance.
Ø  Don’t expect too much shut eye for reasons known and unknown – it‘s too cold! I am too scared! My BFF snore too loud! I miss my mom! Who dare to go to the toilet with me at 3.00am! I hope Hang Tuah and Alfonso De Albuquerque and their “merry men” don’t come alive at 4.00am! I pray that this Flora de La Mar doesn’t sail away in the Melaka River at 5.00am! A bit of footnote – The Maritime Museum itself is a replica of the ‘Flora de La Mar’, a Portuguese ship that sank off the coast of Melaka while on its ways to Portugal, carrying loot plundered from Melaka.
Ø  At 7.00am, lights on. Quickly dress and pack up your things before leaving your sleeping area. Don’t leave anything behind as the Museum operates normal in the day time!
Ø  Check that your name is correct on the Sleepover Certificate as living proof that you survive the “Night at Maritime Museum Melaka”
Optionals - Hotel room at Naza Hotel Melaka complete with welcome drink and breakfast the next day and pre Sleepover buffet dinner at the hotel

Your typical Basic Itinerary (without hotel room)

2000 hrs Briefing by Tour Guide at a meeting point
2030 hrs Proceed for River Cruise.
2115 hrs Disembark at Padang Nyiru Jetty.
2130 hrs Proceed for Riverwalk.
2215 hrs Guided Tour of Maritime Museum
2245 hrs Supper and Activity.
2345 hrs Settle down time & light out
 Next Morning.
0700 hrs Wakeup call.
0715 hrs Pack up and check out.

This was my itinerary for my Sleepover Adventure…
1400 hrs Check-in at Naza Hotel.
…Leave the big bag and carry the small bag…Make sense?

1900 hrs Pre Sleepover Buffet Dinner
 …Optional for you...

1945 hrs Briefing by Tour Guide.
…Did I tell you that he, Shaukani Abas the Great, made me wear Kain Pelekat? What the heck I get to shake hand with Melaka CM, Datuk Seri Ali Rustam...

2000 hrs Transfer to Taman Rempah jetty.
…Lots of  photos taken while waiting for your turn to board the boat…

2015 hrs Proceed for Night River Cruise.
.. Wow! Awesome! So many sparkling, colorful lights and beautiful decorated attractions at Kampung Morten (traditional Malay village), Pirate Park (small theme park), Kampung Jawa, Jalan Laksamana, Colonial shophouses and also at several scenic bridges such as Hang Tuah, Tan Kim Seng, Cathay, Market, and Kampung Jawa Bridge…

2100 hrs Disembark at Padang Nyiru Jetty.
…Stop! Stop!  Group photo first!…

2115 hrs Proceed for Riverwalk.
Casual walk on the refurbished banks, boardwalks and the streets of Melaka...

2200 hrs Guided Tour of Maritime Museum.
…This is a golden opportunity to take your picture with Hang Tuah, just like me during my Pirate Night Theme party at the Maritime Museum, again organized by Ahmad Yahya and his teams from Tourism Malaysia Melaka and Abu Hassan Ismail and his teams from Naza Hotel Melaka. This time no Sleepover! Did I tell you that Shaukani the Great make me wear my Pirate costume during the River Cruise and River Walk? What the heck nobody recognize me anyway…

2230 hrs Supper and Sleepover Activity.
…Ate something and did something. Experience a mental breakdown during these brief moments before the highlight of my trip….

2345 hrs Settle down time & light out
…Trying to sleep. Still trying to sleep. Again trying to sleep…

Next Morning.
0700 hrs Wakeup call.
…Yawn. I only slept for 2 hours or so…

0715 hrs Pack up and transfer to Naza Hotel for breakfast.
...To have my breakfast first or to continue my sleep first, that is my question!...

1200 hrs Check out of hotel.
…So soon. I only slept for 2 hours or so…

Like any typical travel agent, the usual final note is the above itinerary is subject to change. My final personal note is the above experience differs from one person to another.

As quoted by TTGMice Dec 2009 – Jan 2010 issue by S Puvaneswary  …”Leisure & Incentive Tours Director of Sales & Marketing, Wan Munirah Dato Wan Puteh, agreed and said the programme had a lot of potential. Many corporate companies are looking for out-of the box ideas. It is good to market this as an option for groups planning their conferences in Malacca, together with a themed dinner at the museum and a teambuilding exercise such as a treasure hunt. The local corporate market would be game to spend a night at the museum and treat it as an adventure – it is all about how you highlight the idea.”….
If you want me to organize this Sleepover as part of your Incentive program, please email me your details to the company email leisureincentivetours@gmail.com

Enjoy the pictures!!
